The Illinois Wheat Association (IWA) is a member organization serving all aspects of the Illinois wheat industry from producer to processor. Illinois Wheat Association provides educational opportunities, encourages research relating to wheat and wheat products, promotes marketing alternatives, and represents its members in state and federal legislative activities relating to the needs of the Illinois wheat industry.

New Wheat Association leaders elected
The Annual Meeting of the Illinois Wheat Association was held January 20, 2026.
Producer members Hayden Byars of Geff in Wayne County and Darren Lewis of Clay City in Clay County and Industry member Michael Lash of Wayne City were elected to serve a 3-year term. They replace Eric Brammeier, Patricia Fuchs and John Howell who all tenured off the board. Howell also retired as Association President.
A new officer team was also elected. Serving as President is Tracy Heuerman of Dieterich in Effingham County. John Ernst of Alhambra in Madison County was elected to serve as Vice President. Serving as Secretary is Nick Frederking from Nashville in Washington County and Nick Pingsterhaus of Breese in Clinton County was elected to serve as Treasurer.
John Howell was recognized for his service to the Illinois Wheat Association as both a director and President.

The Illinois Wheat Association recently launched a new membership and event portal. In the spring of 2025 existing members would have received an email from contact@illinoiswheat.org. Please check your spam folder for a message from that address and be sure to save that address in your email contacts. We have learned that many members are missing out on communications as they are going to spam folders.
