BOB FRANK WHEAT YIELD CONTEST

Rules and Regulations

CONTEST ENTRANT QUALIFICATIONS

1.      To enter, you must be an IWA member in good standing. (A one-year membership ($50) can be included with your entry fee.  IWA also has a three-year membership for $150.)

2.      Entry fee will be $50 per entry.  A farm entity or operation may enter more than one entry, but each entry must have a different individual name. If your company has multiple entries, please dictate which number it is (Ex. Entry 1, 2, 3 etc.)

3.      Payment and entry fee must be postmarked/submitted by JUNE 4, 2025

 

CONTEST FIELD AND ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS (2 options)

Option 1 - State and National Yield Contest Eligibility

1.      Entrants will compete statewide.

2.      Contest field must be at least 10 continuous acres of one variety number. Continuous being defined as “not separated by public roads, permanent field roads, or waterways that are delineated out of FSA maps or other structures or features that cause a field to be “farmed” separately.”

3.      Out of this field, a minimum of 2.5 acres must be harvested for the “official” weight/yield. There is no maximum size for the official weight/yield.

4.      *NEW* Contests 10 acre yield area must be outlined from yield monitor of ONE variety number using 4 sided polygon and an image from the 10 acre yield monitor must be submitted with entry.

5.      A certified scale must be used.

6.      Each entry MUST BE from a 2024 commercial seed purchase. “BROWN BAG OR SAVED SEED” WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR ENTRY. The IWA Board reserves the right to request invoices for seed purchase. Check with your local seed supplier as some companies may support the entry into the contest.

7.      Although there will not be a separate organic category, USDA certified organic producers may use bin-run seed and enter the contest.  A copy of the USDA certification must accompany the contest entry.

8.      Field MUST be verified by a 3rd party supervisor during harvest of the contest field.

Option 2State Contest Eligibility Only

AWARDS

§  1st place = $500

§  2nd place = $250

§  3rd place = one-year membership to IWA

Note:  Prize money is calculated and based on 50 entries. If more or less than 50 entries are received, the IWA Board of Directors will use their discretion in determining the final amount of the awards.

DECISIONS OF ILLINOIS WHEAT ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN ALL MATTERS ARE FINAL.
